ABOUT US

Independent money management for people who need more than a bank account

ILBP (Independent Living Banking & Payments) is a specialist service focused on managing day to day money safely for adults who cannot do this themselves. We support local authorities, care providers and families to keep people’s finances stable, transparent and fully auditable.
Our work spans appointeeships, deputyships, direct payments and personal health budgets, always with the person’s wellbeing and legal safeguards at the centre.

WHO WE WORK WITH
Local authorities, NHS partners, care providers, deputies and families working together to protect vulnerable adults' finances.

Who we are

ILBP is a specialist organisation focused on appointeeships, deputyships, direct payments and related money management services. We exist to support public bodies and care teams who need a robust, scalable way to manage client finances while protecting vulnerable adults from harm.

Independent & specialist

We focus solely on money management and related support, working alongside (not instead of) social care, health and housing teams.

Public sector partner

Most of our work is commissioned by local authorities, the NHS and other public bodies who need a trusted partner for client funds.

National reach

We support clients and commissioning teams across the UK, adapting to local pathways, charging policies and safeguarding frameworks.

Our mission & values

Everything we do is shaped by a clear mission: to reduce financial harm and instability for vulnerable adults, and to give professionals a reliable, auditable way to manage client money.

Our mission

Keep essential bills paid and income stable.
Protect people from avoidable debt and exploitation.
Support public bodies to evidence good governance.

Our values

Respect: treating every client with dignity.
Clarity: transparent processes and communication.
Safety: robust controls and safeguarding practice.
Partnership: working with, not around, local teams.

Who we work with

ILBP is designed to sit within existing pathways. We don't replace social workers, care coordinators or finance teams. We give them a safe, reliable way to manage client money at scale.

Local authorities

Adult social care, mental health and homelessness teams who need a consistent model for appointeeships and related services.

NHS & ICBs

Hospital discharge, community mental health and continuing healthcare teams needing support with client money and direct payments.

Providers & families

Care providers and families who want reassurance that money is handled safely, with clear contacts when questions arise.

Governance, safeguarding & quality

Managing other people's money carries serious responsibilities. Our internal governance, training and oversight are designed to give commissioners confidence that client funds are handled appropriately.
Documented policies aligned to DWP and MCA guidance.
Structured staff training and competency checks.
Regular internal audits and reconciliation of accounts.
Clear routes for raising and escalating concerns.

Working with safeguarding teams

We work closely with local safeguarding adults teams when concerns arise about financial abuse or neglect, providing detailed account histories and practical support to protect clients.
